It’s unfortunately come to my attention that WordPress is banned in China. Therefore, let me translate this so that someone who can actually see it can understand it. (Taiwanese can still see it)

Matthew’s Gospel 9:9-13

While Jesus was at the house of Matthew, lots of tax collectors and sinners gathered around Jesus and his disciples, who were all sitting together.  The Pharisees* saw, then asked his disciples. “How can your teacher eat together with tax collectors and sinners?”

When Jesus heard, he replied, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor, sick people do.  Scripture says, ‘What I desire is compassion, not sacrifice.’  You should go figure out the meaning of this sentence.  My coming to the earth is not to call righteous men, rather it is to call sinners.”

*at that time  Judea‘s political and spiritual leaders, they thought that the way to be righteous was to do good works and to avoid the contamination of sinful people.

Who is righteous?  Lot’s of people believe themselves to be righteous.  Certainly, the Pharisees thought this way.  But Jesus knows that all men are sinners.  Jesus has come to wash away people’s sins.  But, only those who believe they are sinners can receive Jesus’ help.  The Pharisees could not accept that they themselves were sinners.  Therefore Jesus could not help them.
